The Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin was included in the esteemed “Heroes of Philanthropy” by Forbes Asia. The list was released last December 2 to give honor and recognition to the 30 outstanding altruists who “committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific.”

Angel is known for her own way of helping those people in need like victims of natural disasters, violence, and conflict in Mindanao. Like this year’s ABS-CBN Ball where she opted to donate the expenses of her gown to the Bantay Bata Foundation which is the beneficiary of the said event and her notable deed of donating trucks of relief goods and supplies to the victims of the Mindanao earthquake, without publicity. All of her intentions to help, efforts, and actions were being recognized by Forbes Asia as they wrote on their website the donation she gave for Mindanao that is worth 1 million pesos. And for the past decade, she donated over 15 million pesos allotted for “educational scholarships for students, supporting the economic and political rights of indigenous people, and ending violence against women and children.”

Other efforts of this godsent person were all mentioned on Forbes website:

“Her donations have also helped roughly 500 families hit by some of the country’s largest disasters: Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009, Typhoon Habagat in 2012, and Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, one of the deadliest storms on record, leaving 6,300 dead.”

“Locsin has also inspired many of her millions of social media followers to give back. ‘It’s like taking little steps towards substantive, holistic change for the future of the next generations,’ she says, ‘The only motivation we need is being part of humanity.’”

Angel once wrote in one of her blogs, “You don’t need to wear a costume to be a superhero.” And yes, she is a living proof of this statement. Her compassion and own advocacy of helping others in need is truly inspiring. Congratulations Angel! Bless your good heart even more!
