“Kathang Isip,” “Ride Home,” and “Maybe The Night” – these are just a few of the famous hit singles released by indie folk band Ben&Ben. Their story started in 2016 when twin brothers Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin Guico signed up for the Philpop Music Festival with their entry single “Tinatangi” interpreted by Bayang Barrios and “Color it Red” front woman Cooky Chua. This song won 2nd runner up and was named “Best Music Video” in the said event. The multi-talented twins released their debut EP later that year and decided to recruit more members until they expanded into a nine-piece band.
Since then, Ben&Ben played a vivacious role in the underground music scene as they performed in several gigs and events around the metro. Despite having no proper full-length album back then, the band has amassed more than 300 million streams on Spotify and YouTube, served as front act in numerous local and international concerts and festivals, and even starred in a movie. Ben&Ben’s music became extremely well known in just a span of three years – a living testament of the band’s potential.
Finally, the indie folk band is stepping their music game up a notch as they are set to release their first full length debut album “Limasawa Street” under record label Sony Music Philippines. The album is the fruit of dedication, perseverance and hard work for three long months of juggling song writing, recording, and performing live. According to Paolo, “Limasawa Street” is a conceptual place where people’s darkness are quelled or at least slowly healed. The album is composed of thirteen beautifully written songs. In an email interview, Paolo shared that they wanted the album to reflect people’s “better place,” a place of light. He added, “The origin of the (album) title is a childhood street wherein most of the songs in the album were inspired by.”
Each Limasawa Street album package includes one exclusive flash drive containing thirteen songs, one lyrics booklet, thirteen exclusive postcards of illustrations, and one free entrance ticket to the album promo tour.
