Ariana Grande is Filing a Lawsuit Versus Forever 21 and It’s Worth $10 Million Dollars

Grammy award-winning recording artist, songwriter, singer, model, and actress Ariana Grande is reportedly filing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against fashion retail giant Forever 21 because of an advertisement that showcased a look-alike model who was garbed in clothing and hairstyle that markedly resembles her without her permission.

Based on a published article posted at website “Today”, Forever 21 approached the young singer regarding a possible endorsement marketing deal in a social media platform December last year. However, due to the inadequate amount that the fashion retail company was offering to pay for the rights to utilize Ariana’s name and image, further discussions of the said deal didn’t push through. Apparently, one Instagram post by Ariana Grande is worth millions of dollars and a more extensive marketing campaign such as this would cost a whole lot more. The lawsuit that Ms. Grande filed was worth a whooping $10 million dollars.

The Forever 21 look-alike model posed like Ariana, which greatly implies an attempt to refabricate Ariana’s signature pose. To top it all, the background music that was used is one of Ariana’s original songs. According to alleged court documents, the similarity is a clear effort to suggest to the public that the popular singer is associated with Forever 21 even if there was no deal agreed upon between the two parties. Ariana’s team added that Forever 21 “stole” the rights to use Ariana’s image likeness by launching such campaign at the world wide web that was obviously deceptive as they did not pay for the rights to use such. There were at least 30 unauthorized images and videos uploaded in the website and social media accounts of Forever 21 that featured Ariana Grande’s music and image likeness.

In response, the popular retail group addressed the $10 million dollar lawsuit filed against them by stating that they are not going to comment on the pending trial as this is their company’s policy. They even mentioned that they are huge supporters of Ariana Grande and have already worked with her in the past. Forever 21 is hopeful that they will find a solution that is mutually amenable to both parties and carry on working together in future projects.
