Famous k-pop all girl group Blackpink now holds the title of being the first k-pop group to have a music video with more than one billion views on YouTube. According to Seoul-based YG Entertainment, the female group’s music video “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” made it to the top just last Monday after almost seventeen months from its official release. The first k-pop artist who amassed billions of views in YouTube is Korean singer PSY for his worldwide hit “Gangnam Style” last 2016. His video garnered a total of 3.4 billion views in YouTube alone.
The song “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” is from Blackpink’s mini album “Square Up.” Its official music video amassed 10 million views in YouTube just after six hours since its debut last June. On July 30, it already has over 900 million views. Another famous Blackpinksong “Kill This Love”, which was premiered last April, garnered more than 640 million views also in YouTube. Meanwhile, other popular songs from the all-girl group such as “Boombayah,” and “As If It’s Your Last” both topped 700 million views on the same social media platform.
Apart from being one of the most-viewed k-pop music videos on YouTube, two of their members made it in the top five Most Beautiful Faces in Asia 2019. Lisa is number one while Jennie isn’t far behind being number three. The awarding body is TCCAsia from parent company TC Candler, which has rated the world’s top male and female lookers since 1990.
Other Blackpink members Rose and Jisoo also made it to the list, ranking at 13th and 22nd places, respectively. Japanese actress Sakura Miyawaki bagged the 2nd spot while Chinese actress Angelababy is top 4.
TCCAsia also revealed the list of Most Handsome faces in Asia 2019 where famous Chinese actor Xiao Zhan made it to the number one spot.
