French fashion haute house Christian Dior just introduced its first-ever collaboration with the Jordan Brand. Originally created for NBA star Michael Jordan in 1985, the ‘Air Jordan 1’ celebrates its 35th anniversary alongside the first Dior men’s show in the United States – for the Dior Men Fall 2020 season – joining forces with Dior Men’s artistic director, Mr. Kim Jones to create a new, limited-edition ‘Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior’ silhouette.
“I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas – Jordan Brand and Dior are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields. To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new,” Kim Jones said of the #DiorJordan collaboration project. The pair of sneakers was unveiled at the Dior Men Fall2020 show in Miami, Florida where a throng of fashionistas along with the biggest celebrity names were present: David Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, and Travis Scott.
Made in Italy to superlative luxury standards, the new, limited edition Dior Jordan silhouette reflects both the timeless appeal of the sneaker itself and Dior’s emblematic style, crafted from the finest leather, edge-painted by hand and in the shade known evocatively as ‘Dior Grey’ since the Maison’s founding. A remix of the iconic Jumpman Wings logo is embossed on the upper and features the words “AIR DIOR”, underscoring the cross-cultural creative exchange between Mr. Kim Jones and the iconic sports label Jordan for the Dior Men Fall 2020 collection. The Nike Swoosh is filled out with the Dior Oblique motif, also embodying the exceptional know-how of two leading brands.
Travis Scott was the first to test out the pair of the limited edition ‘Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior’ sneakers on the day of the Dior Men Fall 2020 fashion show last Tuesday. He was spotted in an all-Dior look, also from the much sought-after Dior collection. Travis Scott was among the many stars in Dior during the momentous event.
