Disney Has (Finally) Gone Diverse By Casting Halle Bailey As Ariel In ‘The Little Mermaid’ Live Action

Are you a huge Disney fan? If so, you’re most probably going to totally fangirl over the fact that The Little Mermaid will finally have its live action and for your information, Ariel has finally been cast and will be played by none other than singer, Halle Bailey.

Yes, the free-spirited redhead is going to be played by an African-American young woman and truthfully, we’re all in for it! Disney is finally slowly becoming diverse and we’re glad that little black girls will be able to cosplay the mermaid without having to care about the colour of their skin.

For now, Halle Bailey is the only official cast member of the movie. The other possible cast members are just reports, but we can sure say that we’re digging for them.

For the fun and clumsy Scuttle, Awkwafina who plays the best friend of Rachel Chu in Crazy Rich Asians has supposedly nabbed the role.

Flounder has also supposedly been casted and he’ll reportedly be played by Wonder’s Jacob Tremblay.

And for the biggest villain of the movie yet, the crazy sea witch, Melissa McCarthy has been in talks for the role of Ursula.

As for Prince Eric, the handsome first love of Ariel, fans have expressed their want for either Jimin from BTS or Shawn Mendes to grab the role.

Desires for Vanessa, the human form of Ursula, to be cast have been expressed too.

Basically, everyone is just so hyped for the casting and that includes us too. We can’t wait to see the animated movie turned classic live in action. This is just honestly too exciting!

Share your thoughts on what you think about this casting! We’d love to hear from you!
