Remember when we were all hyped up at the announcement of Disney’s The Little Mermaid live action remake and just wanted to cast either Shawn Mendes, Harry Styles, or BTS’ Jimin as Prince Eric? Well, it seems that one of our chosen actors has already been contacted for the role and unfortunately, he’s turned it down.
The title of this article honestly says it all. Yes, that’s right, folks. This isn’t a hoax. The former One Direction member and now Sign of The Times solo artist Harry Styles has turned down the role of Prince Eric.
Now I know what you all may be thinking: why would he actually do this? *Insert a ton more question marks* Honestly, you’d think that being Prince Eric would be the DREAM. Well, that may seem to be just not the case for Harry Styles. It’s truly no biggie, but I guess we’re going to have to wear all black for the next 49 days, because the possibility of Harry Styles being Prince Eric has now been thrown into the graveyard.
OK. Wait. Hold on. Before we all wear black, there’s actually a good explanation as to why Harry Styles didn’t take the opportunity to be Prince Eric for the live action film.
At an interview with Capital FM, Harry Styles revealed that the production and shooting time would be very long and it would not be convenient if he would want a solo tour next year. Well, that’s fairly a good enough reason. After all, Harry Styles looks like a real life Disney prince anyway. We suppose we could pass the idea if he’s boarding on a solo tour next year.
Now I guess all we have on our list is Shawn Mendes and BTS’ Jimin. Who could be Prince Eric now?
