Famous Italian fashion house Prada is working on a collaboration project with international sports brand Adidas for the first time. The designer brand released an image to confirm this exciting collaboration in its official Instagram account yesterday and we couldn’t help but hold on to our seats!
The post entailed a photo of a Prada shopping bag with two boxes of Adidas originals shoes in it. It was captioned with a hashtag “#Pradaforadidas coming soon.” Though both brands haven’t announced further details about their partnership, this idea will surely be sought by many!
According to the official Prada website, the aim of their partnership is “to investigate the realms of heritage, technology and innovation – and to challenge conventional wisdom through unexpected strategies.” The joint project is based on an authentic fusion of high-end designer fashion and sport that will generate an exclusive limited-edition footwear for both men and women made exclusively in Italy by Prada. Furthermore, sports giant Adidas’ sporting heritage and visionary approach to technological development merges with Prada’s world-renowned history in leather-goods and unparalleled perspective on luxury and quality, synonymous with the label Made In Italy.
The creative partnership will test new materials and technology at the Luna Rossa sailing team with the goal of perfecting the science of sailing. The website also mentioned praise about Adidas’ legendary pioneering work in sporting innovation and precision technology making it a global icon. This trademark will be perfectly merged with Prada’s interplay of luxury and utility. As final product, a new Luna Rossa performance sailing footwear will be unveiled next year!
Based on Harpers Bazaar, performance footwear they are referring to will comprise of two different pairs of trainers – one in white/silver and the other in red. Each pair will cost around $350 each. Meanwhile, in a press release, the limited edition #Pradaforadias sneaker designs will be released this December.
The collaboration isn’t Adidas’ first take on luxury collections as it is known to have collaborated with Stella McCartney and Raf Simons among others.
