Rebel Wilson is Making a Hollywood Movie about K-pop

The popularity of K-pop has begun to take over the world with Korean girl and boy groups like EXO, BTS, and BLACKPINK, as their music keeps being recognized by Western charts and winning awards recently. The thought of a K-pop film coming from Hollywood is promising and now that it is happening, we can hardly wait to unveil some important details for you! The Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson is writing an American film about K-pop. Yes, you heard that one right. Her humor will take over the world through K-pop for the comedy film Seoul Girls.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate will release the film after having obtained the rights to Seoul Girls which is written by Rebel Wilson and recently revised by Young iI Kim, the writer of television series, Billions.

According to Deadline, Seoul Girls will feature the story of “a Korean American high school girl and her friends who enter a worldwide talent competition to be the opening act for the world’s biggest K-pop boy band. With help from an ex-member of a British girl group and a former K-pop trainee, the Seoul Girls find their voices on the world’s biggest stage”.

Rebel Wilson will play a role in the film and she will also produce the movie under her Camp Sugar banner and Monumental Pictures, the co-producer of the musical film Cats. It is not the first time for Rebel Wilson to enter a music-related movie, her notable role for the film Pitch Perfect as Patricia Hobart popularly known as Fat Amy is her most recognizable portrayal in a film.
