The 68th Miss Universe competition is going to happen soon – December 8, 2019 – at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The current reigning Miss Universe from the Philippines, Catriona Gray, will crown the worthy successor of the crown at the grand finale of the prestigious event. The pageant will be hosted again by Steve Harvey, while Vanessa Lachey and Olivia Culpo will serve as backstage correspondents. It is said that a new crown will be at stake for this year’s competition.
The new Miss Universe crown is made by a a privately held Swiss and Emirati jewelry company, Mouawad. The brand manufactures and retails not only jewelry but also objects of art as well as luxury watches. It has headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and in Jumeirah Lakes Towers in Dubai, U.A.E. The company was founded in 1891 by David Mouawad in Beirut, Lebanon. The firm is now led by 4th generation co-guardian Pascal Mouawad.
The new Miss Universe 2019 “Power of Unity” Crown was finally revealed at an exclusive press event in Atlanta Marriott Marquis last Thursday. The crown is composed of 18-karat gold studded with more than 1,770 diamonds and is valued at a whooping $5 Million US Dollars (roughly P253 million pesos), according to Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart.
Meanwhile, reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray posted an emotional message on social media during her last night as Miss Universe, “My last night as reigning @missuniverse and my emotions are all over the place.
