After being named “Artist of the Decade” by the American Music Awards overtaking the biggest names in the music industry such as Ariana Grande, Drake, Post Malone and Halsey, Taylor Swift again wows her fans and followers as she accepts her newest recognition from Billboard: “Woman of the Decade” during the Women in Music Event in Los Angeles, California. Since Tay-tay is the first ever recipient of the award, she delivered a meaningful and lengthy acceptance speech during the event, where she addressed her controversial misunderstanding with US businessman and record executive Scooter Braun. Taylor also expressed her gratitude for being picked as “Woman of the Decade”, “Thank you for a magnificent, happy, free, confused, sometimes lonely but mostly golden decade. “I’m honoured to be here tonight. I feel very lucky to be with you, thank you so much.”
The young and multitalented performer also took the opportunity to make her message regarding the double standards that face men and women in music come across: “Have you ever heard someone say about a male artist, ‘I really like his songs, but there’s something about him I don’t like?’ No, that criticism is reserved for us.” Swift again landed a spot at Time magazine’s 100 Power List for the third year in 2019 as she has a net worth estimated at $360 million according to Forbes.
Taylor Swift is the most awarded artist in the history of the American Music Awards, garnering a total of twenty nine wins since her first entry. This makes her a record-breaker, defeating Michael Jackson who used to be number one with twenty four wins. Taylor was awarded “Artist of the Decade” for this achievement. Astounding live performances by Tay-tay herself joined by Halsey and Camila Cabello, as well as Travis Scott and Selena Gomez were featured during the awards night.
