Disney is not done bringing iconic characters into life as they release live-action movies of our favorite Disney films which are a big part of our childhood. Everyone surely knows the story of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and other classic Disney characters that we adore. And speaking of classic Disney characters, last Thursday, December 5, the trailer for the much-awaited live-action remake of Mulan was released and it is marvelous!
Hua Mulan, otherwise known as Mulan, is a story of a legendary warrior who disguised as a “son” to save his old and ill father to be a soldier in the war. Her epic adventure in becoming a true warrior despite her gender will open aspects of what a woman can do and be.
The Chinese-American actress Liu Yifei is playing the titular heroine Mulan, Tzi Ma as Mulan’s father , Rosalind Chao as Mulan’s mother, Yoson An as Chen Honghui, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jet Li as the Emperor of China, Gong Li as the powerful villainous witch, and others.
“Your job is to bring honor to the family.”
The trailer starts with words coming from Mulan’s father as she is seen being prepped to be a “good wife.”

Unlike any other Disney movie, the Mulan live-action will not include songs. It was confirmed by Niki Caro, the director of the film as they opted to align the movie to the “The Ballad of Mulan,” which is the poem from the 6th Century the animated classic was loosely based on.
For those who are wondering where Mulan’s little dragon friend/sidekick Mushu is, well, apparently, he doesn’t appear in this version of the movie.
Meanwhile, Disney also released the official poster for the upcoming film last Wednesday with Mulan dressed in red prepared to fight.
The Mulan live-action remake is set to release next year March 27, 2020.
