Makeup and cosmetics have been existing for many centuries. It was first introduced by the Egyptians as an eye or body coloring. Today, makeup is used by both men and women to enhance their facial features. Due to the ever-growing consciousness on looks, some even use it to help boost their self-esteem and confidence. Others simply want to add color to their day and have fun.
Speaking of makeup, did you know that the queen of pop, Lady Gaga herself just recently started her own makeup line? Always known for freedom and liberation, Lady Gaga is a true icon who’s been a blessing to the adventure seekers; and it couldn’t get any better now that pop and makeup officially collide! She called her cosmetics line “Haus Laboratories”, and they believe that “beauty is how you see yourself”. Instead of the old saying that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, Haus Laboratories encourage people to express and love themselves. Lady Gaga’s makeup brand seeks to liberate freedom of expression as well as defy the current “filtered look” that social media has brought upon us. According to Business of Fashion, the fierce mother of Haus Laboratories wanted to focus on color cosmetics for now, without involvement of skin and hair care, unlike other celebrity labelled cosmetic brands. The Queen of Pop said that both she and other people discovered who she is by expressing herself; hence their ethos. She also said that she will not put a beauty brand to “drive insecurity and fear” into people.
Haus Laboratories’ beauty products consist of lip colors, lip glosses, cheek tints, foundations, eyeliners, bronzers, highlighters, eyeshadows, and all over colors that will be sold exclusively on Amazon in September this year. However, because they know that every one is so excited to get a hold of them, these products will be available for pre-order starting July 15. Each lip gloss costs $16, while kits that contain all three items cost $49 each.
Since six days ago, a number of images showing Lady Gaga with her makeup on and photoshop-free were released from Haus Beauty News’ official Instagram account. The photos were absolutely filter-free and as natural as it could be – sticking to the slogan of Haus Laboratories. Thousands of commenters exclaimed their love for the photos as it simply proves how the makeup brand is not “selling Photoshop” and promoting “fake plastic doll looks”.
